Branding, Logo Design

Kimball Capital, a new venture capital firm with a keen eye on emerging companies across the US and China, asked me to help establish their visual identity. They needed the whole kit—logo, letterhead, and business cards.

Using my experience helping my last company with their rebranding efforts, I delivered high quality assets in a timely fashion while improving my own skills at the same time.

Logo Creation

I pulled a lot of my inspiration from Chinese symbolism and characters. Starting off, I used the Chinese character for gold, jin. and the yuanbao. After several sketches and iterations, the yuanbao eventually became the primary foundation for the logo and gold became the primary color for Kimball Capital’s palette.

Logos + Brand Guidelines

Final Logos

Final logos became a segmented version of a yuanbao. I wanted to keep the logo clean and minimal to reflect the Kimball Capital’s professionalism.

Grey | #c1c0c0

Colors

I wanted a simple palette that wasn’t too loud or vibrant. Gold became the primary color with grey becoming the secondary. Black and white complement the palette.
